Samurai Sword Soul Performed for Japanese New Year's Fair

Samurai Sword Soul performed for Japanese New Year's Fair at 14th Street Y on Sunday, January 18th. In spite of the snowing day, the event was filled with a lot of crowd because this event was advertised repeatedly on the local news station, NY-1, in advance. SSS started with the mokuso (meditation) through Kata (form) as part 1 which was in their usual exercise style. They added the Shamisen (Japanese guitar) and Flute in part 2, which was composed by short plays including sword fighting scenes.

The part 3 was the workshop for kids. They picked one kid, who beat bad guys bravely with the special sword made of newspaper!

The first performance of SSS in 2004 was finished with a storm of applause. Performers were Yoshi Amao, Bob Yoshi Kuwayama, Jun Suenaga, Jun Kim, and Yasu Masuda. Musicians were Yumi Shindo on Shamisen and Seiichiro Koizumi on Flute.

Press Conference for Samurai Sportsman in Hollywood

Yoshi was invited to join the TCA press conference for Samurai Sportsman's promotion at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood on January 6th. The host was the president of OLN, Mr. Roger Williams, who introduced the Vice President, Mr. Peter Hall Englehart, the world renowned bass fishing expert, Bill Dance, and TV star for Samurai Sportsman, Yoshi. After the short introduction by themselves, Yoshi received a lot of questions which included sarcasm little bit, but he kept his positive attitude to every question, and finished with a great spirit, just like a Samurai!!

Outdoor Life Network to Debut "SAMURAI SPORTSMAN"

The shooting for the new TV Series, "Samurai Sportsman", hosted by Yoshi has started.

Yoshi is a modern day Samurai who will combine humor and fun as he uses his martial arts training to master traditional American outdoor activities.

OLN (Outdoor Life Network)'s most popular outdoor experts will share their knowledge with Yoshi as Eastern tradition meets Western expertise.

Outdoor sports including bass fishing, skeet shooting, timber sports, duck hunting, and finally the rodeo, are just some of the challenges he will face. Master outdoorsmen will teach Yoshi their discipline while learning from his Samurai ways. SAMURAI SPORTSMAN will debut on OLN (Outdoor Life Network) on Saturday January 31, 2004 at 9:30pm ET/PT.

Samurai Sword Soul performed on THE TODAY'S SHOW on NBC TV
Samurai Sword Soul performed live in Rockefeller Center on THE TODAY'S SHOW on NBC TV on December 3rd. They appeared on TV at 8 am and 8:35 am and performed samurai sword fighting. The second performance was held after an interview of Ken Watanabe and Hiroyuki Sanada who are two of the stars in the movie THE LAST SAMURAI. It was a really cold morning in New York, but their performance was so hot that they got a big applause and cheers!

Samurai Sword Soul was invited to THE LAST SAMURAI premier event

Warner Brothers has been paying close attention to Samurai Sword Soul since their performance at Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and finally, their dream came true. SSS was invited to THE LAST SAMURAI premier event at the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown on the evening of December 2nd. It was a real honor for Samurai Sword Soul to be able to participate in this event. Most of THE LAST SAMURAI stars got together for the event including Ken Watanabe and Hiroyuki Sanada from Japan, and of course Tom Cruise!

SAMURAI SPORTSMAN was reported as "Samurai Cowboy" on Athens Daily Review in Texas

Yoshi was interviewed by a reporter for the local newspaper, THE ATHENS DAILY REVIEW, while he was shooting for the rodeo episode in Athens, Texas. The article appeared the following day with a big photo on the front page of the newspaper. Yoshi was happy with it, and shouted,"I love Texas!"

Yoshi appears in SNL with Halle Berry on NBC TV.

Yoshi appeared in Saturday Night Live on NBC TV on October 18th. He showed up as a waiter for customer, Halle Berry, in the Japanese restaurant scene. "She was really hot and natural!!" That's Yoshi's comment after the shooting.

Samurai Sword Soul shot the first promotional video

Samurai Sword Soul finished shooting their first promotional video at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in August of 2003. The director was Alan Capriles, who is working for "Kung Faux" which is a TV program mixed with martial arts and comedy on Fuse Channel. Samurai Sword Soul's first promotional video will be released by the end of this year. They are planning to make a second promo video this coming February.
