It was a shooting for certain fast food commercial. The scene was in the civil war. The location was the Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It was early morning plus Big Snow! It was cold, chilly, freezing. My underwear, gloves, hat didn't work to make me warm, however, a cup of miso soup which was served us in the break time made me warmer and happier. I guess it was instant miso soup, but it didn't matter. I loved that miso soup. I felt I was so Japanese! Good job, everyone!  |

Samurai Sword Soul performed in Japanese New Year's Fair at 14th Street Y on Sunday, January 16th. Thanks to the NY-1's news, the fair was full of people with kids. In the end of the performance of SSS, bunch of samurai kids appeared on the stage, and performed. They are students of samurai kids class at 14th Street Y. After the performance, SSS had an instant samurai workshop for young audience, and had a great time together. |

Samurai Sword Soul performed for WB-11 Morning News on Thursday, January 6th. The TV reporter, Larry Hoff, joined their Kakari-keiko(attacking practice), and enjoyed together. Also, Larry killed Yoshi twice with samurai sword on TV. It was fun. Besides this sword class, he reported Punk Rope class and Toide Okinawan class. It was very good promotion for 14th Street Y's funky classes and upcoming event on January 16th. |

The Samurai Kids class was so successful and it will be closed for their first session on January 10th. Now, the samurai Adults class will be open on Tuesday, January 18th! The class will be held every Tuesday from 8 pm to 9:30 pm. The session 1 is from 1/18 to 3/15. The session 2 is from 4/12 to 6/7. One session includes 9 classes, and it costs $110 for members, and $180 for non-members. The bokken(wooden sword) with the case is $28. Please join them!! |

 The Japanese New Year's fair will be held at 14th Street Y from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, January 16th. Samurai Sword Soul will be performing around 3 pm. You can also enjoy Rice -cake pounding, Japanese Dance, Japanese Tea Ceremony, Magic show and so on. The last shooting for Yoshi in 2004 was as a male prostitute for the Late Night with Conan O'Brien show on NBC on December 30th. He was selected with seven other asian guys, however, the most of their scene was edited out because of the technical problem....To be honest, it was Yoshi's second experience as a male prostitute for this show. The first one was aired at the begining of December. When Conan watched him as a male prostitute, he wispered, "I know this guy..." Does he remember Yoshi as "Samurai Sportsman" as a guest for his show on April 8th, 2004? If so, Yoshi is so proud of it!! |

The shooting was held in the club at Miami with 200 extra people who were hired locally. Yoshi's part was a super funky DJ in Shanghai. He learned Chinese as a second foreign language at the university in Japan, but he took a special Chinese lesson for the shooting this time. You will see him wearing the funky costume and dancing with huge intensity on the big screen in the club. Hmmm..He is FUNKY!! |

Taiko Masala opened Taiko (Japanese Drum) workshop at the Teachers College Horaceman Theater of Columbia University on December 4th, and Samurai Sword Soul was invited to have a joint session since last June when they worked together at the Miller Theater. Taiko sound made SSS's performance more powerful and exciting. See you soon, Taiko Masala!! |

" I was scared of that...." Even the brave modern day samurai, Yoshi, talked about a certain audition. The situation was as follows...A sushi chef is cooking sushi in the counter. Then, suddenly a big football player attacks and tackles him... Yoshi felt pain with his neck after the audition for a while, however, fortunately (or unfortunately?), he was booked! When he went to the shooting locatrion, he found out another chef there. Oh, double booking? No, he was the main chef , and Yoshi was an alternate chef just in case the main chef gets injury...Wow...Anyway, the main chef did a great job, so everything was OK without any problems except scary memory in Yoshi's mind... |

Cherry Blossom Festival at BBG in 2005 
The annual big event "Cherry Blossom Festival" at Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be coming on Saturday, April 30th, and Sunday, May 1st, in 2005. Yoshi will be Emceeing with his intensity and wit, and SSS will be performing with their strong spirit and movement. He must be getting busy and happy this spring. |

Samurai Sword Soul performed in the pre-show for the kung-fu play, "White eyebrow and the destruction of shaolin", at the Chinese Community Center Theater on October 29th. The pre-show included 8 groups, and 7 of 8 were variety styles of kung-fu. SSS was only one Japanese Samurai style group, which showed the combination of intense movements and quiet intervals against the continuous speedy movements of Kung-fu. The audience enjoyed the cultural difference in the fighting stage. |

Yoshi started his new career as "a Hand Model". Even though he hasn't recognized it, the professional hand makeup artist said, "His hand is very small, cute, clean, young and healthy!" He was shocked because he thought his hands were so brave and manly by training with karate. However he has no complain if he can get a job! His hand debuted with "V" as in Viagra. The shooting took less than one hour. Good start! The following shooting was "the hand grabbing the lighter" for Ricoh. It took seven and half hours! "I could not keep the fire in in the end of the shooting because I got sweat and tired, but I had a wonderful time!!" Now keep your eye on his cute hands!! |

SSS performed for the Halloween party at the bar lounge "Le Souk" in the East Village on Wednesday, October 27th. The party was full of hip and cool crowds, and they enjoyed DJ's music, sexy belly dance and talk. This party was organized by Caroline, Kiko and Yoshi, whose signs were Scorpio!! Especially Yoshi's birthday is October 31st, Halloween, so he gets new energy in Halloween party every year. Yoshi and SSS members wore gorgeous costumes this time and performed more comically than usual. Happy Halloween, everyone, and happy birthday, Yoshi!! |

Yoshi was cast for the shooting for the fighting scene in the music video of "Kings of Leon". The casts were athletes who can move very well and have nice looking such as martial artists, dancers, singers and actors. The fighters were only 10 people in the first day, but it increased to about 40 people in the second day, and they made very exciting fighting scenes behind the band. The director aimed the out of controlled street fights rather than the martial artistic beautiful fights. It was fun, too, I got a real punch on my face from an excited Italian girl, though.... |
